Three Allotments at Chelsea 2016

We saw some beautiful gardens at Chelsea Flower Show this year with some enviable plant and colour combinations. Geum were very favourable with the designers and a must have summer flowering perennial for anyone wanting to re-create the planting trends. As ever, we enjoyed visiting the Show, Artisan and Fresh gardens but what unexpectedly caught our […]

Derek’s Garden

I fell in love with Dungeness a few years ago. On my first visit I couldn’t take in the vast strangeness of the place, the stretching shingle, seemingly washed up fishing boats, mini dwellings that look as though they have been collected on the beach along with the treasures and shells they are decorated with. […]

Planning ahead

Now that it’s officially summer and we’ve given planting a rest until autumn, we are looking forward to sharing some of our recent projects soon. If you missed the boat for spring planting now’s the perfect time to start planning for the next season. If nothing else, why not start organising your bulbs for spring […]

Plant of the month: June

As summer kicks in our June plant of the month is Convolvulus Cneorum, or Shrubby Bindweed. Flowering from May to July (and longer) this Mediterranean plant is sure to brighten a sunny garden.  The flowers start as twisted pink buds and then open into proud trumpets of white petals with yellow centres. The evergreen foliage is […]

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

With the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in full swing we’ve had a peek at what you can expect from the show gardens this year. With the 2014 Chelsea trends including meadow and woodland planting we were excited to find out the main themes for this year…and quite the eclectic mix it turned out to be! We’ve picked […]

Plant of the month: May

Our pick this month is the Choisya x dewitteana ‘White Dazzler’.  This evergreen shrub produces masses of dazzling, scented star-shaped flowers in late spring and, often, again in late summer/autumn.  As a compact Choisya it is perfect to use as a low hedge and as the foliage is aromatic we often use it to edge […]

Splendid Spring Tulips

It wouldn’t be right to let his time of year pass without taking a a minute or two to remark on what a bargain tulips are for the spring garden.  A small amount of effort in the autumn can produce amazing results in the spring – even in areas where the light is not perfect. […]

Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

We are always on the hunt for interesting gardens and outdoor spaces to visit in and around London for inspiration in all things green and recently had the pleasure of visiting the Daltson Eastern Curve Garden. This outwardly unassuming space is a hidden haven set incongruously in the hustle and bustle of Dalston.  The garden was […]

Plant of the month: April

This month it’s got to be the striking Euphorbia characias subsp. wulfenii. This upright evergreen euphorbia, a favourite of Gertrude Jekyll, has strong stems of glaucous leaves contrasted by huge heads of radiant chartreuse-green flowers from March to May. Provides architectural structure to any sunny border and is drought tolerant once established. (Always wear gloves while maintaining!)

Things We Want / No. 2

Now is the perfect time to start looking for outdoor furniture to turn your garden into your own private haven, in time for summer. We came across the amazing Nest Rest, which has made it firmly onto our wish list. Placed in just the right spot you can get a perfect view of your garden whilst still […]
